Introduction

MediKonnex AI Health ("MediKonnex", "we", "us") is committed to protecting the privacy of our users in Cameroon and across Africa. This policy describes how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our AI-powered health assistant. By using MediKonnex, you agree to the practices described in this policy, in compliance with Cameroon Law No. 2010/012 of December 21, 2010, on cybersecurity and cybercrime.

Data We Collect

We collect the following types of data to provide and improve our services:

• Conversation messages: the health questions and symptom descriptions you share with the AI assistant.
• Session data: anonymous session identifier, preferred language, and region.
• Device information: browser type, operating system, and connection type (for performance purposes).
• Usage data: interaction timestamps, features used, and performance metrics.
• Feedback: ratings and comments you voluntarily provide about AI responses.

How We Use Your Data

Your data is used exclusively to:

• Provide personalized health information responses through our AI.
• Improve the accuracy and relevance of the AI health assistant.
• Analyze aggregated, anonymized health trends across Cameroon.
• Ensure technical performance and service reliability.
• Comply with legal and regulatory requirements.

Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely on protected servers using Supabase infrastructure with encryption at rest and in transit (TLS 1.2+). Conversations are retained to improve the service and are automatically anonymized after 90 days. We enforce Row-Level Security (RLS) policies to ensure data isolation between user sessions.

Data Sharing

MediKonnex does not sell, rent, or share your personal health data with third parties for commercial purposes. We may share anonymized, aggregated data with public health partners in Cameroon to support community health initiatives. Data may only be disclosed when required by law through competent Cameroonian authorities.

Health Data Sensitivity

We recognize that health information is particularly sensitive. While MediKonnex is not a healthcare provider and does not create medical records, we treat all health-related information shared in conversations with the highest level of confidentiality. We encourage you not to share personally identifiable information (full name, national ID number, addresses) in conversations.

Your Rights

Under Cameroonian data protection legislation, you have the right to:

• Access the data we hold about you by submitting a request.
• Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Request deletion of your conversation data.
• Withdraw your consent to data collection at any time.
• File a complaint with the National Agency for Information and Communication Technologies (ANTIC).

Children's Privacy

MediKonnex is not intended for children under 13 years of age without the supervision of a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you are a parent and believe your child has provided us with information, please contact us for its removal.

Cookies & Local Storage

MediKonnex uses browser local storage to retain your session preferences (language, session ID) and recent conversation history for offline functionality. We do not use third-party tracking cookies. You can clear locally stored data at any time through your browser settings.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy periodically. Any substantial changes will be communicated via an in-app notification. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
